price of good pc's keeps going down... for 1k you should be able to build a pretty decent gaming pc... you can go to bestbuy and hop on one of their pc's and build your own pc and see the price as you go... they'll ship the pc to your specs and then you just pick it up... someone on here may be able to build one even cheaper though? there's nothing to building a pc... proper cooling is the main issue that needs some serious thought... just make sure you choose a tower that has good air flow and plenty of drive bays... the 1k budget makes deciding on the speed, memory and grafix card pretty easy... you just get the max that the 1k will allow ... id do a bestbuy build first just to get an idea of the price that they'll build one for... you can have one of their guys help you with the details and explain which gcard is best for gaming and so on

1k seems a bit over the top Sizzle. If you really want power, you can spend that much money on a PC, but you can a good gaming PC for half the price already.

Here's what I did for my brother's pc.

I bought a 400 euro PC at a local media market. It was a mini-tower, and build for Office, so not quite a gaming PC. I couldn't upgrade the videocard, because only ATX towers support this function, otherwise you would need to get a Low Profile videocard, and its crap.

So I took out the motherboard with its components, bought a bigger chassis, an extra 40,- for 4GB extra DDR3 memory and an Nvidia GeForce GTX560 videocard < which should be enough to support your gaming pc for another 10 years. In total,

I spended about 600 euro's on that PC. It contains the stock components of an Office computer, but the memory and videocard upgrade made it a game pc. Basically, all that crap about 32GB RAM memory is good, if you wanna run alot of applications/programs at the same time, but 8GB will do fine. also, a normal i5 dual core processor will do fine.

I can run Skyrim, BF3, MW3 on ultra settings and even more intense engines like Crysis 2 on high settings without any FPS loss on that pc.
