here i will Val xD if reincarnation were a reality what type of life would you choose? where would you be born? would you even have any choices or say so? if i had a choice id like to be an author. with my excepional grammer, imagination and itellectual prowess i think i would write some great books! no romance novels though! xD unless i were to be reborn as a female? and i would never choose that! lol no disrespect to females of course _-)

I don't know, I've tried to stop thinking too much about stuff like this, asking yourself if there's something after this life is like asking what is in a black hole. We can not know, because it's beyond our comprehension.
Well personally I am highly sure there is no heaven or hell, but I really don't know what comes after this life. If it just stops or something else happens, it never bothered me too much cause I will eventually see for myself. :P

for this life it seems that I already made my choice Smile 
 
I don't think that it works that way. I think that we have the choice of the qualities we want to develop and of the defaults we want to get rid of. We are born with a certain intellectual package, with a personality and with the "free will". What we do during a life time is only our choice, but we also carry in a next life the lessons we didn't learn.
 
if I'd had the choice I'd like to be a psyhic, or a telekinetic .. or something like that. Some might say that I'm watching too many movies LOL, but those people really exist
 
@ Dagon : indeed, there is no heaven or hell, not the way others picture it for us anyway

so in reincarnation, you believe were born to a random mother? born in a random country? born without any choices at all?

i would think somethong would have to be established?

Trinity you nailed the point right: in many, if not almost all, some kind of concept of re-birth is found.
If i'm not wrong, even in christianity, in the end God will resurrect the dead and unite soul, spirit and body of the dead (at least that's what I have heard some protestants think).
 
The area I know more about is hindu and buddhist point of views on reincarnation:
Many hindus accept the concept of jiva atma wich can be understood as everlasting soul. This part of us is then moving from life to life, from a body to another - and the forthcoming bodies are result of our karma, actions in life.
 
But in buddhism the approach is different. In buddhist point of view there is no something single thing that  could be called soul. Every aspect of a being can be sliced and diced to smaller particles in philosophical point of view: our "body" is not a body: it's actually pile of cells. And cells are made of molecules, molecules of atoms etc. 
Due to our past actions, karma, something like consciousness is then moved and actually formed as  the next body (or something not so touchable as a body).
 
Outside of all big religions many people believe in reincarnation. I think there's nothing wrong with a point of view that your actions have a reaction - that way we may respect and love every living thing  around us.
