This Pinnacle capture device would do the job, but it is lacking component inputs.  If you have an HDTV, you would have to downgrade your cables and resolution to accomodate this.  Making playing a nuisance with worse graphics settings.  If you use an older standard def tv, you wouldn't miss anything.  I did some searching on pinnacle's site, and I was unable to find a recorder that used component video.  But it may exist.

 

The order of progressive video output: (composite video is worst (yellow video cable), better is Super Video (5 pin connector), next best is component video (red, green, and blue video cables), and best is HDMI cable. 

 

Not many capture devices use HDMI, as it gets much more expensive and you have built in copyright protection built in, limiting certain content from being recorded.  I would recommend my setup

 

I bought a Hava Wireless HD

Very cool device which wirelessly, or wired will send the input signal to your computer in 740X480 resolution.  It comes with software for playback and recording.  You can also set it up to plug your cable or satellite into it and operate your cable or satellite from a remote laptop.  I can watch my home satellite from my work laptop, pretty cool.  I use Microsoft Movie Maker to edit the vids and I usually publish them to 720P resolution so youtube recognizes them as HD, although technically it is 720X480 resolution.  The setup works like a champ and I have not noticed any ps3 lag while wirelessly connecting my ps3 to internet and wirelessly sending recordings to computer.  Another cool feature is I can also do a livestream of my gaming that I broadcast on www.Justin.TV/Killinugood, although when I broadcast live, I do notice extra lag.
