ok, so no one has been on for a while now.
i've been using my PS3 for netflix mostly, i hardly play, even when PSN was up. now, tried it yesterday, won't load. get red blinking light. googled it, only came up people trying to sell a how-to-manual. vids are also useless. any help from the forums? it's not the yellow light of death. it just tries to load and then doesn't, followed by a red-blinking light HALP! -dorien_o |

It is deffo over heated, you need to move your playstation to a more spacious area where it can breathe

what? I've never had problems with netflix and I'm watching it now. I know for a fact when you click on netflix it asks you to log in.. you press ok like if PSN was up.. there it will say PSN is undergoing maintenance.. then it will ask you again.. press ok one more time and that should make it work.

Also try replacing the rubber mounts underneath with taller ones so console is more up off of whaever flat surface u have it on. If ur near a radio shack, they should have em. & CS is right, the taller mounts will also help ur console breathe better!!

i have had this happen 3times. the first i had the console only a year n sony sent me a new 1. the second time i had it 2yrs paid for another one. 3rd time was 2 days after the 2nd one so sony sent another one free. there is a way to fix it permantly but only a few ppl know how to. i got a new friend down the road who can fix any sort of tech. e.g. laptops, speakers, tv's, xbox's n ps3's etc n i am glad i met him. hah everything for me is free to get him to fix as we are 2 outta 20 ppl in my area that love Metalcore music. lmao
best bet is to get sony to send u a replacement or find a company that'll fix it cheaper |

the last thing i did was use netflix,
which is why i mentioned it to bring light to the fact, that i rarely use the damn thing. overheating is the general consensus, but what can i do about it. out of warranty, most def. thinking of taking it apart, cleaning out the dust bunnies that might be blocking the air vents, resetting the HDD, read this works, has anyone tried it? i don't have it on a carpet, i have it on it's side, on top of a wooden floor. very open space when i use it. had it now for more than 3 years. perfect up until this week, never any issues. was just wondering if anyone had this problem occur to them, and they (themselves) fixed it, and what suggestions might that person have. thanks for any help the community can provide. youtube is an absolute waste of time. yours, -dorien_o |

Well I bought a heat gun and fixed it, however the problem kept coming back. In the end I got fed up and bought a new ps3. Before you go down that road, you might try some real repair service with a good warranty on their handy work.

nande if you still have the unit try calling a repair shop and ask them about reballing
costs twice as much as reflowing the gpu but its a permanant fix will work again for 2 years or more trustme i buy n sell ps3's all the time |
