I uploaded this vid to the website a few months back so some of you guys might not have even seen video before because it was in another thread, it was shot a while back so they are pretty much just repeating the stuff from that article I posted, but I wanted to show some console gameplay for those of you who really have no idea how this game looks in action. You'll see some CTF gameplay for a bit so we all now penguin/bumrush is gona go bonkers over that :)

They said in the full version of the interview they will release a demo during the release which sucks but it'll still give peeps a shot to try out the first game to run on the CryTek engine which is fn gangster.

This game will be released on xbox through the xbox arcade so Im assuming they will release it for ps3 via the psn. Could be the best 15$ you'd ever spend! I'm prettysure the last I heard from the devs in first quarter 2011 so hopefully they stick with that.

when does this drop?

im gonna invest some learning time on the pc version so i can be ready for the 360 version
fyi or atleast imo
if a game is cross platform, the 360 version will always be better for those who are competitive.
i will say ps3 did reap more rewards for me though regarding ut3

Necro Bump!

I've been keeping tabs on this game over on the the thread from the MLG website:

Anyway the zYn team some of you guys might remember from Ut3 on 360 (they used to be vBi and then some of them split and formed their new team zYn and since have placed pro in GOW 1 and 2 so they know what theyre talkin about when it comes to competitive games:) anyway they are being flown out to Illfonic Studios for the weekend in order to test and give feedback for Nexuiz this weekend. They have been in touch with the devs of the game for months now and are constantly releasing information reguarding the game to the public. They just released this article on the MLG thread that I found to be amazing and really has me looking forward to this game maybe even more than Q3A! Enjoy guys!

You can find the entire article here:

Buts its kind of a lengthy read so I'll just post the important stuff
Highlights:

Quote:
How will the paid console version benefit from those years of refinement in the gameplay of the free version?

Quote:
Because Nexuiz is a console port we have adjusted a lot of things to make it feel more fluid on a console. A lot of the weapons are similar but we have adjusted the balance pass on them. Since thumbstick aiming for a twitch game play is an issue, we have made big steps to aid it and have added a pretty intense aiming assist for players.

However, players who do not want to play with aim assist are rewarded with more points at the end of each mach. We’ve also added melee to every weapon. This makes it easier to feel comfortable when a player gets near you instead of struggling to keep your aim on them. There is also a new dynamic mutator system. This system allows players to put a rule on the match for a short period of time when they get a kill streak. There are three random ones that appear on the screen for the player to choose from. They come from a pretty massive list of different types ranging from Low Gravity, Insta-Gib, Jet-Packs, Rapid Fire, Uber Weapons, Power Ups, etc. Think of it like playing Kings Cup, or even picking up an item in Mario Kart.

The nice feature with it is the persistent layer. Players’ points can be exchanged for adjusting the percentage chance of a dynamic mutator to appear ornot appear. Every time a player ranks, permanent stat adjustments are made to their character as well. These things provide a pretty robust competitive edge as well as being rewarding for veteran players. We also have a pretty in depth clan management system that ranks clans, allows them customise logos, challenge competitor clans and also links to social networks such as Facebook, etc. An automated tournament system is in place that will carry out quarterly finals and a grand championship every year.

The leader boards track every stat all the way down to who kills themselves the most. Every leader board, tournament, clan challenge, etc. you excel in you will get a medal on your player card on the score board. There are many more features associated with the game. It’s a one-stop solution for hardcore arena FPS gameplay. The PC version of the game will be adjusted more towards PC players with no aim assist, changed weapon balancing etc. for precision based mouse/keyboard play.

Quote:
The FPS market is an exceptionally difficult nut to crack…
Quote:
The FPS market has been really crowded since the launch of Doom. One trend we’ve noticed, especially with console games, is that FPS games have been slowing down a lot and getting more tactical. We saw this rise with PC games like Delta Force, SWAT, Rainbow Six, etc. PC went towards the twitch game-play because of how far more superior and accurate you can get with a keyboard and mouse. Console play lacks that edge. There are some players who are super bad-ass with thumbsticks. But, most are not. That’s why I believe it’s been a lot slower for consoles and the trend stayed after Halo exploded on the scene.

Quote:
What does Nexuiz offer that gamers might not get from the more AAA of established titles currently on the market and the upcoming juggernauts such as Medal of Honor and Call of Duty: Black Ops.
Quote:
With Halo and Call of Duty’s success, a brand new flood of gamers have just now appeared on the scene. This is one of the biggest markets of players out there. They are untapped and thriving on FPS action right now. They miss this twitch style game play we all got to enjoy. They are our target audience for Nexuiz. However, the hard-core guys that have been here for a while will still get something out of this game. The highly competitive, fully integrated edge can bring back a lot of those arenaFPS familiarities to players.

Gamers are more social now but mostly over Mic in the games. This has taken an unfortunate stab to LAN parties (but they are still kicking). We wanted to build a fully self-contained game for everything you would need involving the community. Although Call of Duty and Medal of Honor are more than likely going to print money, we feel the $15 price point as well as hot graphics of CryEngine 3 is enough to give curious gamers a try of Nexuiz.

Once they start playing it, they may notice the fast game-play is what they’ve been wanting.

Nothing's been said about that as far as I can see.  We'll be waiting a while for it I'd expect, probably because it's open source and you know how Sony like to put chains on that sh!t.

OXM has a preview for nexuiz in the newest issue. they claim that the game is "sleek, ultra fast-paced arena-style shooter"
could mean that the platform versions will be more fast-paced than QAA and ut3 which is awesome.
and  they say that 8 players is the maximum amount of players per match. yessss
