If your looking to get on msn messenger when your on your ps3 i have found a way without having to install a new OS.

www.mobile.live.com

Its a mobile version of Window Live Messenger that lets you IM your friends and check your email.

well MSN is possible to use to any internet browser, use: FXMEssenger.com and you'll see and chat to all your friends online there.
 
so, i let you guys the link of the OS of Linux special for PS3, you can to DOwnload, the file has a 3.7 Gb of size. so is called YDL = Yellow Dog Linux.
