Usually it's not that loud when it's on & running...But just a few mins ago i was playin Madden online & the fan kicked on pcx speed or something...It's been on for long periods of time & never gotten that loud...It's been on for about 6 hours today and all of a sudden it sounded like it was given a shot of steriods....I was just wondering if i have something too worry about...Sorry if there is another thread like this one i dont recall seeing it....

Mine does this when I keep the cabinet door closed to my electronics.  I now always keep the cabinet door open when I play PS3.  Make sure you have proper ventilation around the fan.  But it is normal for the fan to speed up when it is trying to maintain temperature.  It usually takes about 10 minutes to quiet down for me after I open the cabinet door.  Sometimes I just turn it off for a couple minutes, then restart it and the fan is back to normal.

Well, you know that I never turn off my PS3 because of F@H & I've never had an issue. Just make sure to keep it well ventilated & keep the actual vents clean. Last time I saw your PS3, the space seemed a little crammed.

Also smoke acts the same as dust. Have you thought about having a smoke-free environment? LOL!!!

actually, dust is not nearly as bad as smoke as smoke leaves an actual residue that you will never be able to get out.  After enough exposure to smoke the buildup is akin to spilling a coke on ur motherboard.  Enough residue builds up and the heatsink benefits are no longer realized and over time it's harder and harder to get it to cool down.  Best thing to do is to smoke as far away from it as possible or smoke next to an exhaust fan that takes out anything you exhale.

test it out the next time ur smoking.  grab a paper towel and keep it handy.  take a big toke off ur cigarette or whatever and then (while holding ur breath) cover ur mouth area with the paper towel.  now.. exhale.  look at the paper and tell me what u see.  now that's just one drag from one cig.  imagine multiple drags from multiple cigs from mulitple packs every day. for years.  get the picture now?  lol

But sseriously tho man..nah don't get drastic bro lol.  just buy an exhaust fan.  it will be good for your ps3 and for you (it will such in the air from other windows and cool ur room better than an A/C.
