Hey I believe this is already been out on PC as a beta and will be an exclusive on the PC/360 for a while. Just stirring up some interest seeing if anyone has this or is going to get it. Here's a pic, its a FPS and if its familiar thats bec its using the Unreal Engine.
Release Date is TODAY!

Why the interest?

Here's a quote so you see what they're developing.

Producer Robert Siwiak told Gamasutra, "We're already planning on releasing additional map packs and other content, potentially new weapons and vehicles into the mix. After the game has launched, we fully intend to support the community and add in additional content and otherwise fill the gap between now and a potential Section 8 sequel."

not trying to hijack your topic trin, but i was thinking about purchasing a desktop for gaming rather then continue to use my XPS 1530.

i wanted to have something with more power and easier usage rather then strain my eyes trying to stare at a laptop.  i was thinking about getting the XPS all in one.  i fell in love with the XPS ever since i got my laptop.  no problems whatsoever.

opinions for usage on gaming?
If Gravity is a "P" and the Sun is an "H", it makes a FFFFFFF.

Well its not a dedicated gamers PC but imo consoles have made the need for such PCs redundant. UK has the biggest EU market for games most of which are for consoles. What u have here is better value for money in that, as a student, for leisure and for games, it should meet your needs cos its a media centre. The only thing I can't see are motherboard capacity for RAM (memory state 4gb but if thats the max then thats not brilliant cos u cant upgrade) and processor power. Integrated sound sucks but you have enough resources for that not to be a problem.
Like everything you buy now its well equipped for todays market but tomorrows market is a different thing. And in PC terms thats just around the corner. For todays market it will run just about anything games wise and applications most wont have a problem at all. BTW what games are you planning on playing on this beastie?

Know what u mean with the drop ships but Halo is a great series so thats a compliment right? Dropping down from altitude and busting up a tank, spawn anywhere on the landscape, respawn in a group, coordinated strategies, jet packs and jumps to reach areas on the map that are otherwise difficult to reach. That doesn't sound like Halo sounds more like a game I love to play 24/7. My only question is what speed is this game played at - Halo speed or UT3 speed?
Take a look at the trailers online via link to me it looks awesome. I havent been impressed with the look of a game since UT3. And ive gone through many of these FPS so im tempted, in fact I will buy it by end of the month for sure.

If it is then its a wicked hybrid! release date for UK is now 4th September 2009 and I can't wait to buy. Im gonna pre-order today! Tongue

On the war-torn planets of tomorrow, mankind’s greatest battle is about to begin. With its’ frontier colonies devastated by a growing insurrection, Earth dispatches the elite 8th Armored Infantry (nicknamed Section 8) to repel the coming onslaught.

Section 8 is a sci-fi first person shooter delivering the ultimate multiplayer experience. Shattering the worn-out clichés of the genre, players determine their own role in combat through customization of weapons and armor and by altering the flow of battle - calling in ‘deployables’ and triggering objectivebased missions that affect the entire battlefield.

Features include:

  • Burn in to battle from 15,000 feet: see the battlefield open up below; hit the air brakes and choose where you land
  • Dynamic Combat Missions alter the flow of battle and remove all predictability. Use your wits to gain victory instead of just doing the same things over and over again
  • Call in ‘deployables’ such as powerful gun emplacements, tanks and walking war machines to secure your hard-won territory or to gain a strategic advantage as you advance on the enemy
  • Choose your weapons, armor and more; don’t be restricted to a cla** such as ‘scout’ or ‘medic’
  • Incredible graphics, powered by a heavily modified Unreal Engine 3, delivering huge, open battlefields
  • Full single-player campaign telling the story of trooper Alex Corde
  • Unrivalled multiplayer combat allowing for clan, team and individual stat tracking

I bought this game months ago for the PC, it's definitely a fun game but it seemed to die very quickly on the PC...or maybe I moved on before it caught on I dunno I haven't loaded it up for a while.

Anyway...The campaign was pretty dumb...sort of like UT3's.  The multiplayer was pretty fun though. I really liked how the match was dynamic...you didn't know what your next mission was going to be or where on the map it would take place.  It's definitely not as fast as UT but it's still a decent shooter.

I liked it enough that I'd drop 30 bucks on it from the PSN store if I knew some people that were also.

I bought it for 360 when it was released in UK. Im not one for doing campaigns so i didn't actually pa much attention. The games got some greeat features like 'orbital burn-in', 'jet packing' and the 'speed burst' thingy. Online was fun but yeah control the turrets and u control the skies.
It definitely has potential but never played it with anyone to see if team work made it a good game or not (imagine it would). The trouble was its release date meant it was over shadowed by bigger game titles on the horizon. I stopped playing it cos of work, other games (fifa09) and of course UT3. They should re-relaese in summer with an update pack imo and promote onlie play more.
