Just installed this system the other day.

80" Sharp TV...friggin gorgeous
all speakers are in wall, and 2 double 8" in wall subwoofers.....sounds beast
Hid all the equipment in a closet around the corner
about $20,000 total installed price :)  all my sale.  I told them that this is what they had to buy, they were like ....do it.
Kinda hard to tell, but the whole setup is massive

those are front 3 speakers (Left, Center, Right), plus two in wall subwoofers (bottom left and right), then there are 2 more surround speakers behind the couch (not shown in the picture)

Sharp 80" HDTV                                           $4,999
Anthem Surround sound receiver                $1,999
Paradigm in wall left, center, right speakers           $799
 $799
 $799
Paradigm rear speakers  $1200
Paradigm in-wall subwoofers + amp  $2599
LG bluray player  $199
Universal remote and base station  $499
flat panel tv mount  $299
surge suppressor/power conditioner  $149
cables, connectors, speaker wire  $1200
Installation, programming, instruction  $2200
+TAX

so you can do it yourself and save a couple grand on labor and some on wires and cabling, but that gear will cost ya.

Well, Just got my game room done and will have to tear it apart... for the 4th f'ing time.  Just listed this house today.

Have a new house under contract (short sale, so it's not mine yet though).

KillinU, do you guys have any shots of full home theater set-ups you have done?  This place I'm buying has space for a true home theater and I want to get some ideas.  I really want all touch screen remotes (iPad if possible), web connectivity, security cam interface, caller ID, etc.  The room I have in mind is about 24' X 60', or put a wet bar/lounge seats outside the theater portion and make it only 24'X40'.  It has 12' ceilings and is currently just drywall and concrete floor.

My first thoughts are that smaller is probably better.  Any ideas or feedback on that size space would be much appreciated.

I like the idea of putting the bar at the back of the theater, 40 feet is plenty deep to have a few rows of seating.  We often add step downs for each row of seats too, which helps see over the front row's heads.  depends how many seats you want.  And 12 feet ceilings will allow you to do this.  I have a few pictures at work I could share on Monday.

I would recommend 7.1 surround at least, for a room that size.  Maybe some fabric covered panels on the wall as well for sound absorption.  Dimmable lights controlled from the remote.

For IPAD control, I think RTI has a good app and controller.  Bitwise is also an option.  Control4 is pretty tight as well, if there is a dealer near you.

Thanks man.  The house has 2 attached 3 car garages and 2 detached 3 car garages.  All of them are insulated and have HVAC.   I want to convert one of the attached garages to the theater.  One cool feature is that the garage floor is about 3 to 4 feet below the level of the main house floor.  This would allow the stepped seating you describe.

I don't even have it yet and it will be a little while before I'm ready.  When I am ready to do this, I would be willing to fly in the right crew to accomplish it.  Dreaming, scheming and planning at this point.

This is a shot of the property with some annotation added.
