A great documentary about Religion.

"The plain fact is, Religion must die for mankind to live. The hour is getting very late to be able to indulge in having key decisions made by religious people, irrationalists.  By those who would stear the ship of state not by a compass, but by the equivalent of reading the entrails of a chicken."

"Faith means making a vertue out of not thinking, its nothing to brag about, and the people who preach faith and enable and elevate it are our intellectual slave holders keeping mankind in a bondange to fantasy and nonsense that has spawned and justified so much lunacy and destruction."

"The only appropriate attitude for man to have about the big questions, is not the arrogant sertitude that is the hallmark of religion, but doubt. Doubt is humble, and thats what man needs to be considering that human history is just a litany of getting **** dead wrong." - Bill Maher

yo i saw the movie too and he makes valid points but to me without religion we wouldn't have the societies we have now hell america wouldn't even be the way it is if the purtians didn't have the ideas they had of great civilized society which lead to some great inovations, now don't get me wrong religion has cause many wars and deaths, but it has also done great things  that has propelled man to the next level.

The documentary was really funny, especially the Jewish research facility to circumvent limitations of the Sabbath. "Jesus Camp" is fairly entertaining too.

If religion influences legislation to prevent cloning, stem cell research, or other seemingly nocuous areas of research, large multinational research firms will move to less restrictive countries like Malaysia and Indonesia to continue unimpeeded advancement.

ok well in the 21 century i do kind of agree it does stop us in areas like the medical fields, and science fields but far as the beginning of our society  i believe we needed it to get us to where we are today and we still kind of need it probably not as much but still is needed.
ok  now let me ask you something, but first let me start with this: Friedrich Nietzche said  (and i'm paraphrasing this in my own words ) an adult that believes in christianty is in need of a father/mother fiqure to tell them where and when to go, because they do not have there mother or father as dependent since they are adults, and since they have this mentality they created god so that have that parental fiqure to go to when scared or in need. now my question is if we get rid of this  parental fiqure do you think  we as a society we are older and have the rationality do great without  this parental fiqure that has help many in the way finding hope in darkness. and  also in thinking about that think about every kind of person we have in this world.

i hope this makes sense to you, cause i'm doing other things while i doing this.

i truly believe that religion needs to go away.. one thing that will help that happen is if we discover life in the cosmos.

If Christ were here there is one thing he would not be--a Christian.

we needed religion thousands of years ago because it was a way of control.
there is an interesting theory on how religion was started, it's called the Ancient Astronaut theory. i watched the Ancient Aliens documentary series on the History channel and it was really good. everyone should check it out

Bill Maher is an intellectuall cream puff
If you guys want a serious perspective from a true intellectual on why religion is evil

Read "God is Not Great ... why Religion Poisons Everything" by the great Christopher Hitchens.

im reading it for the 3rd time right now!

Youtube has amazing videos of him intellectually destroying the arguments for religion.
He is truly an intellectual powerhouse and 10X funnier than that idiot Maher.

heres a quick sample of his awesomeness

This ones a bit deeper

lol whatever man. you obviously don't watch his show or you would think otherwise.. on his show he brings on senators, journalists, governors, etc etc to talk about world events. it's not bias at all actually. he criticizes both parties equally. he does make fun of TEA BAGGERS though.

everything he said about religion i agree with.. the only reason i could could think on why people like you think he's an asswipe is because he makes fun of religion. i think he's hilarious
