Thanks to everyone who advised me on my hunt for a new tv. I was all set to by this 32' Samsung 720p per the advice of Pinnacle and others. Actually it came down to a Vizio, Phillips and Samsung all near the $450 area. All 32'', all 720. This was at walmart. I figured I would go to Target to make sure I wasn't missing any crazy deals there. It turns out Target is slashing TV prices more heavily than walmart at the moment. I found this Sylvania on clearance. Sylvania.....meh. Not the sexiest brand but.....
42'' 1080p $599 And the picture looked damn good. So I finally got my TV and everything should be great but......does anyone else play UT3 on a 42 inch TV? I am coming from a 27'' standard definition tv and it is messing me up. It is so much area to scan....and I love sniping so moving the scope across that big a** screen gets arduous. The game it self is absolutely beautiful......so incredible on this TV that is has given new life to the game for me. But I find it harder to hit many shots and I get killed easier. I think I will pick up a 32'' or 26'' for gaming and move the 42'' to the cable box. Anyone else struggle gaming on a 42'' tv or is it just me? BTW I highly recommend this TV for HDTV and Bluray. 599.....u cant beat it. Literally... |

i've played on a 32" and a 42" and with the 42" on my video game wall it was hurting my eyes slightly cause of the distance so i switched back to the 32". as far as the game play its the same for me, i can still see people off in the distance in a darkwalker or a tank. just need to kill em' on the first shot

I play on a 32sony wit 1080p wit da HDMI cable & you cant beat the graphics...I'd say a 32 or 37 would be ideal size to play on but to each is their own.

smaller the tv the better i think it is. not saying go buy a 2" HD mini monster but im talking about the "bigger"-smaller big HD flat screens lol. for some reason the bigger the tv is seems like you have to move more to adjust your aim or direction. i have played on a 19" standard, 26" 1080iHD flatscreen, 36" 720, and a 52" plasma. the bigger they are the better distance and better depth viey you have, its easier for sniping, tanks and dark walkers. but at close range foot fragging i prefer the smaller tvs. my overall best was the 26" by far. the movements felt perfect and could crank up my settings and it didnt throw me off. the bigger the tv was it felt like it created to much speed for my aiming and didnt feel right. it was still pretty damn good at seeing the whole field of veiw and had decent depth aswell. so id say the perfect gaming tv would be anywhere from 26"-32"..

just look for a tv with a good processor and FPS, or higher MGS. thats all you need to know on how the tv will handle the picture fluttering..

I've always played ut3 on my 65", sitting about 8 feet away from it. I'm sure there was a break-in period to get used to it, but that was so long ago I can't remember. I think a 32"would be ideal if you are sitting closer to the screen. Certain tv sizes actually require you to sit certain distances away for ideal picture delivery. I've played at work on a 40", 57"TV, and 120" projection screen. And honestly at 120" I thought it would be like virtual reality with me standing up in front of the screen, targets larger than life...but it was way tougher, and was giving me serious vertigo.
