If I'm not mistaken, GOW_Dakilla is in Ithaca.
Folks, don't mistake living in NY for living in NYC. I'm in in Upstate New York (Rochester). The home of Kodak, Bausch and Lomb, Xerox, The House of Guitars and Genessee Brewing. I'm closer to Canada than I am New York City.
Although, I do try to get down there at least once per year for a METS game.

From my house to midtown manhatten it's supposed to be about 5.5 hours. Add an hour if I hit the tunnel after 3:30 on Friday.
A few years ago my buddy and I were headed down for a Mets/Yankees series and he bet me I couldn't make it to the hotel in under 5. We hit the underground parking garage at 40th and Broad at 4 hours, fifty six minutes.

Bronx....HELL FECK NO!!! Manhattan, ding ding ding, we have a winner Queens.....maybe. just Astoria i take it you haven't visited yet. no one wants to live in the bronx, not even the people who live there that is why the invaded inwood and washington heights. feck, i try not to go past Upper West Side. and yes, you will need money. plenty of it. a room in the city, not an apt, 1K+ a month, easily. a pack of smokes $11 beer at a bar, not club, $8 (although you can find them cheaper, but you really have to look) (this is how i measure living expenses in a city, jajaja) it's not cheap.

now that i've given it some thought NY is just a nice place to visit.. i plan on staying in Cali for the rest of my life, i love it here.

have you ever been to NYC...?
i've hit every continent except Antarctica, but i will someday, have to visit Penguin! been to most major cities, and i have to give it to NYC (Manhattan) this is one of the best place to be in your 20s - early 30s you can add to the list Barcelona Tokyo Paris Berlin Buenos Aires Roma (but i would take Florence over Rome in the long run, to settle there. Io amo Firenze) Hong Kong Sydney San Francisco (if you're gay....) it would do you a world of good to travel, and not just visit, but live somewhere else. there is so much you can learn about different cultures, traditions, views on life and yourself. don't be like most americans that all they know of a foreign country is Mexico if they live in the south or Canada if they live in the north, or if they are in the mid, they go to other states to see how peculiar their neighbors are. your favorite food could be something being prepared right now in Osaka, your best friend could be a student in London, your favorite place on earth could be an island in Greece, someone you may love is a stranger in Madrid and you will never know these things because you stay in the same town, eating at the same restaurants, hanging out with your same friends, going the same place every weekend, talking about the same things.... you only have one life, don't waste it. |
