Has anyone else gotten an invite into the MAG Beta? I'm currently in the process of downloading this 2000+ MB update, which has taken me over an hour, err.

Do you have to apply for it or does it send it to your email?

I got an initial email saying that I was basically being selected to participate in the MAG beta, but that I had to still "apply" to get in about a week or so ago. Then, a few days ago, I got a 2nd email saying that I was selected to participate in the actuall beta.

This is not the first beta invite I've gotten, I received 1 for the UnCharted 2 muliplayer beta but I missed the cutoff date by a few days, so I couldn't get it. I'm not sure how you actually go about getting the initial invite, I think you might have to be a registered member of the playstation forums. But I'm not positive. I'm also a member of the Playstation G.A.P. (Gamer Advisory Panel) so that might help too. Not exactly sure what I'm supposed to do on that panel, but I signed up for it when I got my ps2.

I've got some videos uploading to you tube, not sure how to upload them to the site. I'll post a link once their up and running. Don't expect to much quality wise as they were recorded from my digital camera.

Links to the videos I took. Again, don't expect much from these two. I'm going to add at least 1 more with a lot more game play footage. I'll post the link here.

I'd also like to apologize about the volume being so low, but my 3 kids were sleeping right above my tv in their rooms.

I hope this gives everyone an idea of how the game is progressing. Enjoy.

Kayotic, it looks great. How do you like the gameplay? If you can drop up a small summary review when you've played a while, it would probably help us all buy/not buy this game.

too many games look great only a few actually play as as good as they look. UT3 plays better than it looks to me but games like Quake Enemy and Haze were woeful. I was so disappointed with Quake and Haze had an interface than made vehicles feel like you were using 2 steering systems. Unchartered is the only other game on PS3 that has truly retained my interest.
MAG looks really good but thats marketing...we wanna know if its as good as they say it is. Come on guys get playing. BTW how do you get invites to xclusivs?
Cos I'm Wonderman...I'll take that knife and shove it up your a$$!

Well, here's what I can say from what I've played so far: graphic wise, it is no power house. you won't be wowed visually by this game. It looks a lot like SOCOM (its made by the same people that made the ps2 versions, Zipper Interactive). So think socom, but A LOT BIGGER. The maps are freakin HUGE, a hell of a lot bigger in scale than any warfare map. When you first pickup the game, you have to choose from 1 of 3 factions or armies. I'm not sure if you'll be able to change this on the fly in the retail version, but as far as I can tell, once you've choosen your faction, you're locked into unless you delete it. So, I'm not sure how this will work if you want to play with one of your friends if he/she is on a different faction. Once you've choosen your faction/army, you can then customize your character. Each faction has 3 armor "cla**es": light, medium, and heavy. Each cla** is customizable through XP gained ingame. The upgrades are a lot like the upgrades you can get in the CoD games. Better armor, faster reload, longer sprinting ability, etc.

Your faction is split up in squads and each squad is responsible for completing an objective. I think the squad sizes are up to 16 as of now, but I could be wrong on that. Sqaud leaders have the ability to voice chat with the people in their squad and other squad leaders, non-leadership players can only talk to the people in their squad. Just as in CoD, you can call in air strikes, etc.

I guess the best way for me to describe this game would be to say that its a cross between SoCom and COD: MW. So, if you liked either one of those 2 games or both, then I would say its a buy. Oh and from what I remember, the game does have built in clan support. (I'm not 100% sure on this, because I haven't messed around with some of the other options in the game).

The servers should be back up within about an hour and a half and I'll be recording a video of at least 8 to 9 minutes of game play.  (sorry for not talking in the other 2 videos, but I hate the way my voice sounds when its recorded, of the things you see in the screen)
