Baseball is actually pretty damn popular in Japan, Caribbean Islands, and South America.

For those that are knocking golf, i suggest next time there is a major tournament in your area you hit it up. Go nice and early on a beautiful day, start drinking tall cans of Becks around 9:30am, and you will have a great time. Golf is boring as hell to watch on TV (for me), but actually being out on the course and watching the professionals play the game with killer accuracy/precision is truly a sight to see. You will come away with more respect for the game as a result of attending a tournament.

It's a nice way to spend time with my old dad (who's really good player btw). I do enjoy going to a range every now and then also, it's good excercise for your spine and joints.   The thing is that there should be a big amount of repeated good shots to get the game to stick in your muscle memory.   About chess I agree with you Sizzle: I played quite a lot in my twenties, and it was fun until I learned that if somebody playes a particular opening you should basically play along using known patterns and  variations (like sicilian defence, Caro-Kann, etc)  until the end game begins. The most fun chess is to play without any of knowledge of those and just use one's own intelligence to figure 'em out.   And what this thread was actually started for, I don't remember

thnx Blink, but it took some time to get my handicap where it is lol i've spent a lot of money on my equipment also to make sure i have the best chance that i can have to shoot a low score

its great that you play with your father... those are moments that you'll always remember... there's no place like a beutiful quite golf coarse to spend some time with family and friends playing a great game

you wish Tuna lol 4 moves and you'd say wtf just happened? chess against REAL good players is limited Tuna, and all the great players know it... people have spent years try'n to find something new in chess, and havn't... i don't play anymore for that reason... i joined a chess site that had masters and grandmasters and played on it for a while... the only way you could play a grandmaster was to get your ranking high enough, which ment beating masters, and i played every grandmanter on the site by the time i was done... grandmasters are like chess machines... they know every scenario there is, which is why they almost always end up in a draw against other grandmasters... i never got to the rank of grandmaster, but i did take some of the grandmasters to a draw... which isn't too bad... at first chess was fun, but it gets pretty boring after a while when you realise the limitations

Tuna if your as good at chess as you are at stand still shock combo's then i'm sure that you amaze yourself, but i really have no motivation to see anymore of your stand still shock combo's or your self amazing chess play :) you might as well have asked me to do something just as lame like duel you .___.
