I actually tried this previously, but somehow it didn't work cuz I had scart also attached at the time. Yesterday I then I first reinstalled the system and tried it w i t h o u t scart cable with only hdmi attached and the display is now fine.Don't know if the display driver was somehow corrupted or am I just plain dumb - the most important thing is that I can game on this weekend!

@SB - Theres a thing they call the "Handshake problem", you can google it but basically unplug your PS3 for a little bit and plug it back in. Should work fine if its just a cable issue. If not check the cable for kinks or some sort of damage. If thats ok, then good luck lol

I think next i'll check if my tv displays hdmi/hd signal from another source, just to confirm that it's not tv that's broken. And also try my ps3 with another tv. And if no go, i'll reinstall my PS3.
And if that's no go, i'll paint the damn thing green and throw it in the ocean

my update went ok and you checked your display settings in the menu so try to force a reboot of ps3 (hold down off button then reboot and hold for 5 secs) then select HDMI output. As a thought is your tv full HD as in 1080p or is it 720p?
