I'm just going to create a new topic for the sole purpose of updating my progress on this map and letting you all know what has been added since the last update. Last time I spoke about this map in the other thread, I mentioned that I was about 3/4'ths of the way finishing just the outline and structure of the map as a whole.
I recently just finished the structure this morning and will be putting all the necessary pickups where they need to go. I'll do that first and then go back and worry about textures and the overall look of the map. I can give you a brief description of the environment you will be playing in though. K-Lined pits you in a run down facility that has been over run by mother nature. Grass has overcome the facility, it's falling apart, the roof is basically obsolete exposing the overcast of what seems a neverending day. I have high expectations on this map delivering the same fast paced action that my other map SpoonDog created. I feel as though play testing on this map could begin not this weekend but next weekend. I hope you all stick around until then. Below is the list of players who have signed up to act as play testers for CTF-K-Lined. I hope to have some screenshots of the map in my next update. *Update*
Ok guys and gals. Here is the latest update with some newly added screenshots. Like I said earlier, I finished the structure of the map and now have begun to fill it in. Please be advised that this is still in the early stages and what you see is not final I can promise you that. I pretty much so far have been working mostly on the flag room as you can tell from the screenshots. The middle area will have a bit of more obstacles to fill up the huge space as well. Since the use of jump boots regulated the pace of CTF-SpoonDog, I figured they would do the same here. If you wanted to just run the flag with three simple jumps with the boots you could, that is if you grabbed the flag and then grabbed the boots. This time around you will need to use all three jumps in order to get back to your flag. There will be three ways in to the base. Front entrance, side entrance, and upper entrance. Three routes to defend and three routes to choose. Like I said this should be an interesting map and as the weekend goes by and next week comes around, we should start to see this all coming together and hopefully be ready to playtest it. Stick around and do not be expecting to see alot from these screenshots lol because it's way to early and I'm no pro at this. :) Also I do apologize if these screenshots are enormous. :) ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

so far only thing i notice that may be a problem is the flag room seems a bit small.
For smaller games, it should not be a prob, but if its on public servers, camping will be a pain in the ass. Looking good tho, keep up the good work

really? looks much smaller then omicron to me, could be that i was on my phone when i first saw it, lol
and no matter how "good" you are, in a server with 14 people its always gonna be a pain in the ass (im going off the fact that Bear's server is like the only one that ever gets used and its a 7v7 i think..) Still looks really cool and cant wait to play it :D

I will post a video later this week of a run through of the map to give you guys a better look. If you still think it is to small Rican then you can say so but I honestly think it will be so fast paced that it will be to hard to camp and stop so much chaos. Alot of playing with the translocator can be done in the flag room so, especially for distracting. Anyways I'll have more for you guys mid week.

Okay just to let everyone know, this should be the last update before we start playtesting this map.
Update as of 06/17/2011. Okay at the moment I have incorporated all the lighting effects this map is going to need and really all I have left to do is weapon placement and bot pathing. Once I finish that which usually does not take long, I will prepare the map and send the links to those who signed up as testers for them to download. I am hoping that we can playtest it by tomorrow evening. (Yes that is Saturday) At this point I feel the map looks and feels great. I switched some textures around and took out the whole synopsis of a run down facility and transformed it into more of a successor to SpoonDog. Hopefully the community will like this map and hopefully it will spark more activity and bring more players back as that was the intention of creating this map. I have a server now which we will use for playtesting and once I publish the map I will distribute the PC versions to other server admins who would like to run it on their servers. As it looks things are on schedule and if anything pops up I will be sure to let everyone know. I hope to see most of you online tomorrow to test what I think has a great chance of being a hit just like SpoonDog was. Also if anyone else is interested in playtesting, you can still sign up. :). cool **** man. im more than glad to test it and will be checkin in tomorow for the hook up. also curious who or when we can all setup a test day or something, maybe on your server rico??? then maybe we could lock it for the testers, even if were not all on and just one or two is we could go in with a pass and rock it out to give you at least some fast feed back. cant wait to get some games going soon

Okay guys and gals I have the final update here followed by good news. From this point on whenever I am working on a map, I will have a status regulated within the first post of each topic I create informing all the players here where exactly I am on the creation of a map and its progress.
For example, the first post in this thread has already been modified to accomodate this. Current Status of CTF-K-Lined: Completed and ready for play testing Every map I begin working on from this point on will have these statuses so that you players will know just exactly where I am on the map. The above example is actually true, K-Lined is complete and ready for playtesting. I will be cooking the map for ps3 here shortly and distributing it to all the players that signed up for play testing. I have a server that will be setup for most of the day and will be passworded to be used by the playtesters only. Playtesters please ADVISE that when you are playing this map in a 3v3 or 5v5, jot down or keep track of anything you like AND dislike. Feedback is very critical in creating and finalizing a polished map. Be courteous to others you are playing with. Though they will be pickup games lets have some fun with this and enjoy it. Those who signed up as playtesters will receive PM's that will contain a link to go and download the map. IF you still wish to playtest this map and want to get in on the action let me know ASAP either by simpling posting below this post or sending me a PM. Everyone is invited to try this map out. One last thing before I get back to work on this, I will have a video clip prepared to show you a bit of the map in action. It is nothing fancy but it is just a flag run that only lasts about 20 seconds I would say. And yes I think you all will come up with some cool maneuevers once you see this. Anyways I will work on getting that video uploaded right now and be sure to check your inboxes for those download links. I would like to try play testing around 3:00 p.m est. and from then on as well. Like I said the server will be up all day for everyone to jump in and play the map. Just be sure that if everyone leaves the server to vote for a STOCK map so the server does not freeze. Thanks and I hope those of you test this out will enjoy it.
