Well tbh I'm a little baffled by some of the comments which leads me to think that many of you truly don't understand what's going on. But you need to in order to find a resolution. 
  • Islam is not just a religion, it is a way of life. They do not choose Islam they are born into it just as you and I are born into a secular society where we are free to choose our lifestyles (to a large extent). Except in their society certain freedoms are denied them - yes this includes being a 'good muslim'.
  • Their doctrine preaches obedience without question. The Quran contains God's instructions and it is not the place of man to decide what to obey and what to ignore.
  • For fundamentalists (minority of followers) it is an easy path to power.
  • For liberal muslims its a relatively tough task
  • Their leaders are religious or tribal but they are not (usually) democratically elected by the population.
To those who think 'we don't want a resolution just vengeance then you are no better than the extremists on the other side. But you at least should have more empathy with their viewpoint. I am pretty sure if you saw your friends and relatives being killed you would take up arms against who you consider to be the oppressors right? So as Gandhi once said - "An eye for an eye and the whole world is blind!"
As for Bin Laden - I will not condone any of his actions for me he twisted his faith to his own ends. But I do understand how such a man could be forged. 
  • He could never be allies of USA because of his stance with Israel.
  • To die serving Allah is for muslims the most honourable of deaths so muslims were doing their duty. 
  • Whilst he had the blood of many thousand innocent people on his hands he saw this as collateral damage, a consequence of previous actions. There are no casualties, no innocents in the eyes of terrorists. We are all legitimate targets.

if they don't we let them starve and eventually just walk in and get the oil.
 
we have too many people on this planet already. time to "thin the herd". so why not start with the people who are trying to kill us first.

If you are not smart enough to realise that what you implied is what happened in Germany then im sorry but you dissapoint me in your intelligence, whenever a cage is created it is human instinct to break free from it. To put it simply, you will create even more violence, or is that hard to comprehend John Wayne? I suggest you factor in the innocent women and children in those areas before you decide that their lives are not deserving of food or freedom.
