Most of the shait in the bible is about miracles and so on. They must have been on some good shrooms then. So i guess we are in the same boat then.
And basing my life on research isnt exactely bad...
You do the same! The bible wasnt written by you were it?
So we establish we both read a book or two, but you claim your ONE book are the one. Yet i gave you a couple off addisions that you elegantly ignored...
So calling ME of all, one that ignores is flat out dumb...

to think i havent researched other religions is arrogant and ignorant on your part.
as i posted to have doing that a while back.....
PS: Im sorry for asuming that. But for me ( i was a christian by definition) after reading others research, and adding it all up. Something is wrong. Or else all off the HUman race would follow your belief.
Its al cool I respect you and do apologize for assuming shait..
Edit: Im off to ut3 and some insta action;-)

in essence i mean you cant "test it"
you can test what the Bible says though.
and if it fails you move on.
the other book you mentioned i never heard of so there was no room for me to comment.
and when i said miracles
i mean present day mircales. (while i believe the book of Acts hecne my name lol)
if you cant test something how can you prove it?

I think the biggest mistake everyone is making here is not actually going about and searching for the truth yourself. Argueing on a random website in a thread will not increase your knowledge of this universe. Phantaci and I may be on the same side, but I try to do my best to try and find knowledge and absorb it from every nook and crany of where it could be.
I can sit here and give you all of my reasoning for why there is God, but at the same time that means little or nothing to you. Because you were not there to see it, or hear it happen. The only possibly way to truly find an answer to your questions is to do the research yourself, and listen to what everyone has to say. You can be open minded and still have your own perception of how you think things are. Unless a man truly knows everything about existence itself, then a man truly knows nothing. Because everything is subject to change. The biggest issue is when you have people who go to school, college, universities, and simply just learn what their professor/teacher taught them and just simply repeat it to the next generation. Rarely do you have a person who goes out and says ''Well I am going to study scripture and trying and put more pieces together myself and do my own research''. Same thing goes with science. Just because your professor says ''2+2=4'' does not make it an absolute truth. What is 2? Its a number, whats a number? Whats a unit or object that exist in space time continuum? What is the space time continuum? How do you define space and time? Is an object simply matter in space? Or is the object a division in space? Or a fractal in space? So basically what you have is people going back and forth and saying ''well Dr.Shatzier said XYZ'' and ''acorrding to Profressor Booger''. Where do these men get their information? Is their information reliable? Is their information truth? What is truth? What is reliability? Simply repeating what another man taught you, what you read does not advance that field at all. People like Nikola Tesla were 100 yeards ahead of his time, yet science of that modern day rejected this man and his idea's. I bet your average physicist wouldn't even bother taking interest in Tesla's work. But thats another discussion. Point of my story is this, blind faith is not restricted to religion. It can apply to anything and everything. This most confusing part is this. If everything cannot be truth, and everything is simply how we percieve it, than does no one have the correct percption? If the human eyes, ears, nose, hands are the most basic tools for us to observe the universe. Than possibly what could verify the validty and accuracy of these tools? If there is no source higher to do so, than everything is subject to another mans perception. But if everything is subject to change, if there is no aboslute truth. Than what do we make of it? Is it just aboslute chaos? Or some abstract fallacy? Tell me what kind of world would you perfer then? A world that is based on a foundation of aboslute truth? Or a world that is always subject to change, and nothing is ever true? If you do not spend your entire life searching for the truth, you will always be imprisoned by your ignorance. ''Trust a man who is searching for the truth. Do not trust a man who has ''claimed'' to have found it'' |

phant in the King James Bible 1st corinthians 13, they use 'Charity' where modern Bibles retranslated it to love. and i think just using the word love (as we would use it today) doesn't do that passage justice.
charity, or love (agapē), means an unlimited loving-kindness toward all others. i liked that passage tho, many religions have much of the same and its great. but it seems (to me anyways) that people would rather look for the differences rather than unite in peace thru their similarities. (just my opinion tho) |

I'm not taking part to the religious fight here but wanted to post another interesting wiki-page about the number of the beast -topic discussed here:
I mean, if 616 is later noticed as the real one, how many heavy metal/satanic etc. merchandises are made in vain. Even the Iron Maiden song has to be re-recorded

lool ive been saying all along that there may be some misrepresentaions and incorrect translations is the bible! BUT that doesn't mean that Christianaty is invalid! you'd need to remember that man wrote, translated and edited the bible after Jesus. Anyone that would use mans mistakes against Jesus would be a fool. Know yourself and be enlightened. Viewing this as a fight would be a mistake. This is not Christains vs Athiests! This is Christians for athiests! Jesus wants all mans salvation BUT he can only choose Ritious Believers. You could say in a word that Jesus has to vouch for you before you can get into heavan. What is a Ritious Believer? Believer is the easy part because thats obvious. Ritious doesn't mean perfect in any language! But what exactly will be concidered Ritious by Jesus? < that question i still can't answer? i honestly don't know? Maybe the effort to be Ritious is the answer? Maybe whats truly in your heart is the answer? Maybe choosing to love and not hate is the answer? If a person *Truly* believes in GOD and *Truly* believes that Jesus is there only hope of Salvation then there a Christian. If they want to get to Heavan they need to become Ritious! Spreading the word is part of Christianity BUT that alone doesn't make them Ritious. They would need to strive to become Ritious in the eyes of Jesus. Learn Jesus teachings and communicate with him for guidance through prayer. 0 effort nets 0 results |

guess ill reply better
You can hardly call this thread a serious discussion or debate - and it's not really possible to just convert atheists i don't think, what you can do is share your views, answer questions and possibly 'enlighten' about misunderstandings but thats it really.. the person makes decisions for his own reasons and biases
I've actually been wondering a bit.. what is it that is so amazing about christians that they're priviliged like that? I've had an answer from someone before, but seeing with what Phantaci said before that answer seems incorrect

0 effort nets 0 results was about try'n to be Ritious in Jesus eyes. since athiests don't believe in GOD it doesn't apply to them.
however if an athiest were to change and believe in GOD and except Jesus as his savior then it would apply to them. |

Yes, that's was the point of my link: incorrect translations happen I believe in every culture and religion. Even the childs play in which a person says a sentence to anothers ear and the whispering is continued until a 10th person gets the sentence: usually the orginal one is far gone
Errare humanum est - as it is said
I never said Christianity is invalid so if my post somehow gave that kind of message, apologies.
Although not christian, I would believe that the most important translation is the one does in his/her heart of bible's core teachings and how to utilize them in everyday life.

thats not the impression you gave at all blink. i was speaking in general terms about validity not your post. your point about album covers being changed acually had me crack'n up :)
the bible does have some great story's that can be applied to every day life, but im sure like everything else with man there's probably a few errors in the bible. people always tend to add a little to every story :) The great thing about a forum like this is people can voice there oppinion freely because no one really knows eachother. So you really don't have to care what anyone thinks about your view. but to post a reply you have to give it a little thought so the non-believers had to think about religion somewhat to reply :) how good a person is at ut3 isn't really important at all but question someones ut3 skill and some people will hit the ceiling lol it just shows that people will defend what there passionate about. religion is so much more then just some misguided ignorant belief like Dagan views it to be. There's so many great things that comes with being religious and thats where the passion comes from. |

Yo Siz you know my screen name is "Dagon" right ?
And I don't think religion is an ignorant belief.
I think every "belief" is either ignorant, because in the end it all doesn't add up, if you believe in god or not, or imo no belief is really ignorant, because "the gift" of understanding the universe was just not given to us, and we can do nothing about it, we have to accept it and that we do.
I think many people act ignorant. ;D More often religious people, who know nothing about their own faith (example: paw and his highly stupid topic about the people who speak gibberish, who "speak in tongues").

well i guess i spelled your screen name wrong even though its in the top left corner i don't worry too much about spelling or grammer because i use my ps3 to post if you must know.trust me i never lost a single spelling contest in school it has been a while since ive wrote anything until i got on this site though. you know working since i was 15 and all ![]() i was also great at math but my math teacher hated me so he failed me even though i got 100% on every test! and thats a fact! i didn't get to play football because mother wouldn't sign for me to play because she thought i might get hurt lol the next school year on the first day that math teacher used the whole math period to belittle me to the class until i got up and told him id kick his ass if he didn't stfu, he told me to go to the deans office and i told him to suck my big ass **** and i never went back, I just went to work. I never did 1 single thing to that math teacher before that and i never disrupted class even once! I loved math. He must of just been a jellous Pri'ck because math came so easy to me. the ONLY reason im telling you this is so you can maybe drop the lame ass ignorant comments. Grammer is just memorization! there's not anything smart involved in it! Spelling is memorization there's not anything smart involved it either! but If you really want to think religion is lame and religious people are all ignorant? you go right ahead genius
