If you looked at half of the references the author was quoting, they were Christian based. Which means biased.

My point of view is that science is right and evolution did occur. Yes, evolution is a theory, but it's strongly supported by science. I do believe that earth/universe was created with a guiding hand, a divine force. But not the same divine force that religion portrays. Simple as that. Look at some of the figures that Hawking points out in that article. Life on earth is very fragile. Just a little instability and that could be the end of life as we know. On our planet at least.

If you're gonna read something, check that 1st link out. The following links describe carbon-14 dating, which can be used to date objects going back 60,000 years. Way before God supposedly created the earth. The earth according to Christianity and the Bible is supposed to be what, 5,000, maybe 6,000 years old? Carbon dating alone is enough to contradict the Bible view on the Earth being created. The 2nd two articles also describe how this dating process is relative in showing how old other isotopes are. These other isotopes, such as uranium and potassium, are also used for dating things much older.  Honestly, we both know I'm wasting my time spewing out this information. If we both wanted, thanks to the invention of the internet, we could sit here and pull articles out of our a$$es all day and night contradicting one another. And none of it would change either person's opinion. I dated and Evangelical girl once before. Probably the hottest girl I've ever dated. I know how strongly Christians feel about their faith and the bible. It's very hard (near impossible I'd say) to convince them otherwise. If you or i really wanted to get to the bottom of this, we'd have to find the best, most up to date material possible (for both sides), and study it with an open mind. Evolution doesn't pertain to religion or politics, and its not a very interesting subject. it is something to debate since it can't be proven or disproven.

here's an example of why i would have trouble with taking every word in the bible literally.

lets say you gave me these directions.

go 5 miles then take a right at the Mcdonalds, then go straight until you see a Tacobell, then take a left and go straight for 10 miles until you see a church then turn right at the church and go straight for 20 miles unltil you see a KFC then take a right and go 4 blocks and you'll see the *house of morons* your looking for, you can't miss it!

and instead of writing down the directions right away, i waited a while? then i wrote down your directions like this.

then imagine my mis-directions being translated by someone that isn't an expert on translating? and also imagine people getting a hold of my mis-directions and tampering with them? also imagine more Mcdonald's, tacobell's, kfc's, and church's being built on same streets before the trip was taken?

this is not to discredit the bible! but to show non believers that you can't disprove GOD by showing something in the bible may be in correct! so its pointless to even try! the bible was written by man! then it was translated! the king james version was King James's attempt to bring Christianity back, because it had been virtually wiped out by non-believers that were destroying every bible they could find. The story of King James also leaves the impression that some things were intentionaly left out of that bible? which is why i mention possible tampering.

so what, if something were incorrect in the Bible? what moron would be ignorant enough to state that thats proof that GOD doesn't exist? or Christianity is a farse? It would take someone pretty dam stupid to claim that! but some people do seem to be STUCK ON STUPID?
