uhh the only people who can beat me in duel use HP :P
the only time i whore sound in 1v1 is when i duel corner campers and we all know who they are

I agree your skill gets worse and you depend to much on sound rather than actually looking. You only get better because you can stand and listen to see where he is so you can shoot the first shot rather than suprise and going at it like a 1v1 cause most people with headphones will LOSE.

im not sure i believe that or drokun ether.  everytime i play gainst someone with headphones they allways know were you are, what level of the map your on, and are waiting to cut you off b4 you even come round the corner, ect.  i think it makes a huge difference in game play and from what ive seen it deffinetly gives a advantage, everyone ive ever talked to who has them thinks the same as well.

Directional audio in UT3 is horrible (I wonder if that has something to do with the fact that it's the only game I have by me without the Dolby Digital logo on the box). On PC, you can adjust the audio settings to hear people across the map, but you can't do that on PS3. Headphones might help you pick up some sounds you might not otherwise, but getting headphones to boost your UT3 skill would mostly be a waste of money. 

I just use headphones for everything, even watching television/movies, because I'm weird like that.

with good headphones your supposed to be able to hear in 360 stereo so you know where people are all the time, above, below ect.  people have even told me when they duel you can hear what weapon the other person picks up and were they spawn.  example.  sentinel, if you by flak im at bio i should be able to here you in the water.

I use a Samsung TV for my headphones. Its really easy to use. Just plug in the AV cables and push the volume button that looks like this: - VOL[+] to your desired preference. You should hear all the sounds from the game louder than before. =]

^^ yeah, if you look at how they work, you see they use USB for the mic and RCA cables for game audio. Also, I remember reading that some of those Turtle Beach had an annoying buzz to them (don't remember if it was that particular model though).

I like the Astro MixAmp because it allows me to use any headphones I want with it. Big smile

i am talking about headphones.. and my headphones hook up to the t.v. and ps3..

i think when he said "usb headphones" he was talking about the usb cord on your HP that hooks up to your ps3. good info though! it could help someone out
