nah i know rico.. dont even know him just tired of every random player who i dont even know trying to create my history in ut3. but glad you enjoyed the read im all done
and for the record, yes im very vocal about my opinion, and ive been harsh on ut3.. its nothing against the community which has been one of my favorite communities of all time.. its basically my dissapointment in epic.. but its just my opinion.. i dont get upset that alot of people dislike quakelive or other games i play..
as far as ut3.. people like bumrush have reminded me on the psn how much fun i had playing it.. hours and hours of enjoyment from the game that rivals pretty much any of my other online experiences.. although i told him id get back on and play it again soon im not sure if that will happen but honestly the game is great.. when i compare it up to quakelive its not up to par as far as my preferences of a game but it offers a ****load of variety and it does have a solid engine.
just wanted to get this out there.. game isnt as garbage as some of my very opinionated posts have made it sound.

uh i didnt have a ps3 from feb 09 to aug 09.. and the game was dead goofball.
i did more in the first week of ut3's release then you have yet to accomplish in the past 2 years.
like i said go f*** yourself, you are a NOBODY
i googled your name looking for this challenge of yours.. all i found were posts on the epic forums by you, 2 of them asking to join a clan twice in the same thread.. "hey guys im looking for a team, i really suck balls and have to find a team on the epic forum because my game cant speak for itself" and another post of you asking for a random 2v2 vs idk some scrubs im guessing and stated you wont play vs KBM. your a pussy ass nobody

I should say Quake 2 was the first "complete full 3d shooter".
Reasons -In any game before Quake 2(Wolfenstein 3d, Quakeworld, Doom, etc), ID had very limited technology with their 3D engines. Now, if you go play all of those early bird games, look closely, it is impossible to have levels built upon each other, and sprites are used as in-game models. If there was a floor built upon one another in a Doom map, it would all be in the same room, because it's impossible. Everything was seperate, thats what made it not completely 3D. |

Wrong, id made 2 other "first person shooters" before even wolfenstein 3d. Hovertank 3d and catacombs 3d were made in 1991, wolfenstien was made in 1992. Also you might as well claim BattleZone from 1980 was the first FPS if you count sprite based games 3d. It wasnt til quakeworld til I started online games, the netcode on Doom and Quake are really crappy for modem play. I did play doom on serial link :D Back to lurking*** |

nova are you kidding me? doom didnt build the genre... it was an extremely niche game as far as online and never had any major tournies or anything.
quake, quakeworld, mplayer, heat.net, netquake, etc, built the genre
no question about it. people talk about **** like they know what they are talking about or were there, i use to play quake and in its hay day it was the largest community ive ever seen, and it was the first. not only did quake1 build the online deathmatch shooter genre but it pretty much built the online competetive genre, was the first game to ever have big cash tournies like the red alert (no not the c&c game newbs) tourney where thresh (sad some of you probably dont even know who thresh is)won john carmack's 75k ferrari .
no idea why you would bring up that quake 2 is the first 3d game, im guessing you read that on wikipedia? i dont recall making any claims about 3d or not, obv quake wasnt the first first person shooter, that game was made by the creaters of quake and its not doom, its wolfenstein
i use to play doom (you werent born yet i dont think) and i like most people, played it single player.. very few people.. typically older adults at the time ( i was only 11-12 yrs old) and very very geeky were the small niche that played doom online.. mainly over office networks after work or in college networks, in 1993 when the game released most people were using 14kbps connections or less, not exactly going to create a mainstream online gaming. (infact doom wasnt played mainstream online till after quake came out)
the only thing i agree with about your statement is that ut3 isnt slow compared to most games

Deadaim, your very wrong on how Quake1 built the genre. Doom PC built the Deathmatch genre for online play and has had many many many more online than Quake 1. Quake 2 was the first "full 3D" deathmatch game. Hell, if Epic took their time and waited until April of 09(When the Update was released), UT3 would be a very very very good game. That would mean most of the bugs would be fixed from the beginning, and more bugs now would be fixed. If you would like to see UT3's full list of notable bugs, it's been posted at the Epic Forums for the last month. UT isn't as good as Quake, but last time I checked QuakeLive has less and less Americans going on every day, but has more and more Euro players going on every day. UT3 isn't slow ass either, slow to Quake3, but not compared to all the other games out there. |

i like the ps3 version a lot. i don't think it plays better than the 360 version but it definitely has a larger community and way more maps and characters. i'll be getting online sometime today if you want to play a couple of duels.

ut3 is slow as hell tuna...
even if you played quakelive.. until you learn how to properly bunny hop you arent playing at full speed.
and as far as no exchanges.. its true.. unless its like a sniping exchange or flaking around corners or some **** ut3 doesnt have the same exchanges im talking about.
im quakelive you can have a rocket fight with someone and be bouncing eachother in the air and mid air rocketing and comboing lg and rg with the rockets etc...
in ut3 you shoot these ridiculously cheesy rockets that hit you even if they appear like they are going to miss you (fix your hit boxes epic, pc and ps3)
the rockets most of the time 1 hit kill, on the ps3 they have the damage affects so when your hit with one you cant even see your screen. you just cant exchange in the game.. movement isnt proper.. the weapons arent either
and yea im a quake fanboy.. but considering ive played unreal games since the day the very first unreal came out.. i think i can judge them fairly.
theres been plenty of times where i exclusively played unreal games.
fact is they just arent the same.. the learning curve doesnt involve movement and comboing imo.. unreals movement is so bad they added a dodge button.. and that just turned what should be fluid controls into an animated dodge and its just queer.
i like deathmatch shooters.. and its painfully obvious quake does it better..
hence why q3 will probably rest in history as the most succesful deathmatch shooter ever.. quake 1 built the genre.. and quakelive has had 100x more players then ut3 on pc (albeit it is free.. but ut3 is close to free @ like 9.99)
since the decline of q3 (lasted over 10 years its still played) tournies havent been the same.. you use to win 50k in a duel tourney in these games.. now with mlg promoting to the kiddies they pacifiy entire teams with like 5k
quake is the golden age of deathmatch gaming.. until epic can come back to deathmatch and stop just pushing more torwards a 20in1 game they wont be on my radar anytime soon.
